What kind of architectural firm are you and where are you located?
Gayle Berkey Architects is a full service residential architectural firm founded in 1987. We do approximately 35-40 projects per year with a construction cost of $500,000 to $4,000,000 per project. We are located in the foothhills west of Denver in Littleton, Colorado in the Dakota Ridge Commons Office Condomiums at the intersection of Bowles and C-470 on the west side of C-470.
Do you have a specialty? Can you design any style?
Our specialty is luxury custom homes for individuals. One specific design to meet the current and future needs of one family or individual. We also have experience in remodels and additions to residential properties, but only on a selective basis.
We design to any style the client desires. We are famiiliar with what is currently "hot" on the market, but in our history have designed almost every style of home. We are happy to look at any examples of styles or design elements you have seen and would like incorporated into your design.
What about the contractor?
We have long-standing relationships with selected residential contractors in varied areas in Denver metro and suburbs, plus northern Colorado and mountain areas. We are happy to work with a contractor you have chosen or recommend one to you. We prefer to work as part of a team with both client and contractor involved from the start, but if you would like to put your project out for bid, we can produce the drawings for that scenario as well.

Gayle Berkey Architects also designs custom homes for sale by residential contractors. You may see our name linked with contractors in the planned communities of Willow Springs, Castle Pines, Cherry Creek Country Club, Castle Pines North, The Preserve, and many others in the Denver metro area and suburbs.
Are you licensed?
Gayle Berkey is a licensed Colorado Architect with certification by the National Council of Architectural Board Registration. The firm is also a member of the Home Builders Association.
Do you work with architectural control committees and building officials?
Yes. Many sites in planned communities have restrictive covenants. All of our projects are designed within building codes, architectural control committees, and site/view challenges. Every project can be in harmony with the specific area and site without sacrificing personalized design intent.
How are your design services priced?
Gayle Berkey Architects charges a set amount per square foot of finished space for most projects. Finished space does not include the garage, unfinished basement, decks, porches, or unfurnished furnace rooms. Areas designed for future finish are considered finished space. Stairs connecting any two floors will be counted only once for square footage calculations. Calculations of square footage are to the outside of walls, foundations, or cantilevers.
Remodel and addition projects are billed on an hourly basis for all work.
